All parents benefits from new strategies, tools and community support during times of transition. Mercer Island Healthy Youth Initiative offers evidence-based and expert experience to support parents as their children transition into preschool, early adolescence and young adulthood.

The Incredible Years

The Incredible Years (IY) is an evidence-based curriculum from the University of Washington that offers new skills to promote children’s reading and school readiness, problem solving, social competence and emotional self-regulation.

Mercer Island's Youth and Family Services in partnership with Mercer Island Preschool Association is offering The Incredible Years Attentive Parenting for all Island parents with children 2-6 years old. This interactive 6-8 week series is held online once a week. There is no cost to participate.

Guiding Good Choices

Guiding Good Choices (GGC) is an evidence-based curriculum from the Raising Healthy Children Research Group at the University of Washington. This program provides parents with new skills to support the transition from childhood into early adolescence.

Mercer Island's Youth and Family Services is offering Guiding Good Choices for all Island parents with youth in grades 4 through 7. This interactive 5 week series is held online once a week. There is no cost to participate.

Parenting Beyond (and During) High School

A virtual opportunity to explore topics essential to successfully launch recent graduates into the next stage of life (or prepare soon-to-be graduates for their next step!). Dr. Jason Kilmer from the University of Washington discusses emerging and important science about alcohol, cannabis/marijuana, and other drugs, including how they are associated with academic outcomes and mental health.
