Mental Health First Aid Training
To support you and all that you do in the community, the Mercer Island Health Youth Initiative would like to offer Mental Health First Aid Training (MHFA) at no cost to members of the community. MHFA provides adults with the skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. This training, like a CPR training, does not require any clinical background or prior experience. Participants will learn:
· Risk factors and warning signs for mental health and substance use concerns.
· Strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
· How to access resources and where to turn for help.
· How to respond to substance use overdose and administer naloxone.
Mercer Island HYI is partnering with Jewish Family Service (JFS) to facilitate MHFA in both the Adult and Youth curriculums. JFS helps vulnerable individuals and families in the Puget Sound region achieve well-being, health and stability. We’re looking forward to this partnership to expand mental health support and services to the Mercer Island community.
We are offering two different classes, with two date options.
