To support you and all that you do in the community, the Mercer Island Health Youth Initiative in partnership with Jewish Family Service is offering Mental Health First Aid Training (MHFA) at no cost to members of the community. MHFA provides adults with the skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. This training, like a CPR training, does not require any clinical background or prior experience.
Mental Health First Aid (Virtual)
This free, virtual training (5.5 hours) teaches attendees about mental health issues, how to identify a person who may be in crisis, and how to start a conversation with a someone who may be experiencing a mental health challenge. This interactive course focuses on increasing participants’ confidence levels to help individuals in distress. It also prepares participants to identify multiple types of professional and self-help resources. For more detailed information on the virtual adaptation of these trainings, visit: blog.jfsseattle.org/mental-health-first-aid-trainings-go-virtual/.
